Inspired by the work of painter and potter Julian Martinez aka Pocano (1879-1943) of the San Ildefonso Pueblo and the Black Lives Matter protests I created an image that acknowledged the deep Native American roots of our nation while showing the beauty in diversity of BIPOC (black, indigenous and other people of color) by visualizing his designs adorning marchers today. They are also 'contained' in the outline of one of Pocano's ceramic pots given many marched for justice during the COVID-19 pandemic and quarantine.
